Sembrerebbe che la nuova versione che sta arrivando del client Boinc, che era prevista come 7.26, diventerà Boinc 8 (dopo 13 anni dalla major release attuale, la 7), probabilmente a causa delle grosse novità presenti: una su tutte il supporto alle "sporadic application".
Aspettiamo di vedere.

Ecco un riassunto delle novità

Boinc 8.0.0 successfully running on Fedora 38 for the past 6 hours. After several years I may actually have a "less buggy" client running on Linux.

Plan on trying Ubuntu tomorrow and on Fedora 39.

8.0.0 doesn't seem to be available yet for Fedora 39. There are errors in the wiki installation instructions that I had to fix so that I could install using the package manager. I then tried it on an Ubuntu 22.04 LTS machine and there are many errors associated with that install. They are using apt-key to install and manage the key for the repository but that command is deprecated and so you get a few warning messages related to that. The sources list file has an error in it so the apt command throws an error when trying to read the file. Once I fixed the sources list file, the install completed successfully but the boinc-client and boinccmd modules is /usr/local/bin are not owned by root. I had to fix that. Once I got that fixed I was able to start the client. Boinc 8.0.0 is now running on Ubuntu 22.04. This is out of the alpha repository so a few errors are probably expected. I wouldn't recommend installing unless you are OK with debugging the various issues.

Stavo valutando anche io se provare la beta....

Inserite Fedora 40 e Ubuntu 24.04 nella lista delle distro ufficialmente supportate da Boinc

My last install (8.0.1) out of the Alpha repository went well on both Ubuntu 22.04 and Fedora 39 with no problems encountered with the client after one week. This last install happened as part of the standard OS upgrade cycle without having to do anything special for BOINC.
